1 oz of dried African Bird's Eye (Piri Piri) Pods
African Bird's Eye or Piri Piri peppers are peppery little peppers of modest heat. They rate 165,000 Scoville Units, less than a Habanero. They are a relative of the tabasco pepper. Many wild chiles have "bird" in their name and it can be difficult to distinguish between them and they are of the four species: Capsicum annuum, Capsicum baccutum, Capsicum chinense, and Capsicum frutescens African Birdseye is of Capiscum frutescens and is thought to be the hottest pepper outside of the species Capsicu chinense.
